Thermal UV luminosities for the NUV wavelength range (empty diamonds) and FUV wavelength range (empty triangles) compared to expected auroral FUV emission (full circles). For Brown dwarfs, the massive outer planets of the solar system, the exoplanet τ Boötis b and the moon Ganymede, the thermal UV emission is negligibly small compared to the possible auroral UV emission.
