Solar corona. Full-disk composite maps of the solar corona observed with the three EUV filters on SDO/AIA. In both panels, the shaded blue, green, and red regions represent plasma emission detected with the 171 Å (maximum 250 DN s−1), 193 Å (maximum 250 DN s−1), and 211 Å (maximum 75 DN s−1) filters, respectively. The white boxes in both panels mark the quiet-Sun regions we analyzed (the field of view is 614″ × 614″). Solar north is up. See Sect. 2 for details.
