Comparison of calculated and observed (Prinja & Massa 2013) Si IV ionization fractions. The observed product of the Si IV ionization fraction and mass-loss rate q(Si IV)Ṁ was divided by the predicted mass-loss rate to obtain the Si IV ionization fraction. The calculated ionization fractions are plotted with (Cc = 10) and without (Cc = 1) clumping forv = 0.9 v∞.
