Stellar mass-redshift distribution (see Fig. 5) for the DPS (red) and the NBCS (black). The selection of the NBCS is explained in Sect. 2.3. We also compute histograms for the redshift and the stellar mass for both samples for a better comparison. The NBCS follows the same distribution as the DPS and contains 5128 galaxies.
