Average effective temperature and surface gravity during the core He burning phase for the hot subdwarfs in the MESA sample. There is a strong relation between log g and Teff for hot subdwarfs formed from progenitors with degenerate He cores. Hot subdwarfs with Teff < 20 000 K are classified as sdA stars while the hotter subdwarfs are classified as sdB stars.
