Top-most panel: positions of the major PAH bands and molecular hydrogen lines, with the hashed area indicating the region where possible emission from pentagon containing PAHs could be expected. The inset in each panel zooms in on this region and for NGC 7023 and IRAS 12063-6259 a tentative band is highlighted using a red double hash. See Sect. 4.4 for details.
