Reionization of hydrogen shown as the cosmic evolution of the volume filling factor of ionized hydrogen in the IGM, xH II. We show the evolution of xH II in our standard model (see Table 1). We use red shades for the version that includes stripped stars and gray shades for the version without them. We mark the times when 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80% of the hydrogen in the IGM is ionized using white lines and labels. Stripped stars cause reionization to occur about 100 Myr earlier than when only single stars and AGN are considered.
