Notes. Adopting the profile with 600 regularly spaced cells as benchmark we find relative errors for the profiles with 30 regularly and 29 irregularly spaced cells. Although the amount of cells is comparable, the irregular spacing based on the progression of the thermophysical parameters, especially at the top few centimeters, is significantly more accurate. The difference from our benchmark profile can be considered negligible.
