Candidate gravitationally bound companions of Cepheids. The photometry is taken from the GDR2 for the GBP, G and GRP bands (Evans et al. 2018a), from 2MASS for the near infrared JHK bands (Skrutskie et al. 2006) and from WISE for the thermal infrared W1, W2, W3 and W4 bands (Wright et al. 2010; Cutri et al. 2012). EBV is the E(B − V) color excess. The negative GDR2 parallaxes of R Cru (−1.0940.219 mas) and δ Cep (−1.1430.468 mas) have been omitted. Due to their angular proximity, the listed infrared magnitudes of CE Cas AB, V1046 Cyg and S Nor correspond to their combined flux.

Notes. The expected parallax ϖexp of δ Cep is the mean value between HST (Benedict et al. 2002) and HIPPARCOS (van Leeuwen et al. 2007). The expected parallax ϖexp and the proper motion of Polaris are from van Leeuwen (2007a). The companion of RS Pup is an unbound field star embedded in the circumstellar nebula of the Cepheid (Sect. 6.1.31).
