Magnetar-powered model for SN 2004em. The SN is assumed to have exploded texp = 10 days before discovery. The points show the bolometric luminosities (upper panel) and Fe II velocities (lower panel) from observations published by Taddia et al. (2016). The model is shown with solid lines and the parameters used in the simulation are presented in Table 2. To reproduce the SN evolution during the cooling phase (∼ first month) an interaction between the SN ejecta and some circumstellar material was assumed (see more details in Sect. 4.2).
