Black line correspond to Thomson formula while coloured lines correspond to K–N formula. In Thomson regime forward and backward scattering are equally probable and twice as likely to happen than a 90° scattering. In K–N regime, as the energy of the electrons increases with respect to the energy of the photon, forward scattering is favoured with respect to backward scattering (red line).
