The shape of the heliosphere is affected by the interstellar magnetic field. The heliosphere is compressed in the direction perpendicular to the (v, B) plane, but also becomes asymmetric in the (v, B) plane. This effect can lead to the asymmetry between the right and left flanks of the heliosphere, as observed by HSTOF.
