Impact of ISP and starlight dilution on the AGN total flux (top), polarization degree (middle) and polarization angle (bottom). Two different inclinations are shown: a polar orientation (left) and an equatorial inclination (right). Four AGN models are shown. In black is an AGN model without parasitic light (the kind of model that STOKES was able to produce until this paper). In violet is a model that accounts for ISP, in red a model that accounts for host starlight only, and in orange an AGN model that accounts for both the host and ISP. The interstellar polarization is parametrized with the following numerical values: P max = 1.4%, λ max = 5450 Å, and Ψ ISP = 44°.
