Portion of the spectrum of HD 9996 recorded at two different epochs (resp. rotation phases), identified above (resp. below) each tracing (the epochs are given as HJD−2 400 000), showing the lines Cr ii λ 6147.1, Fe ii λ 6147.7, and Fe ii λ 6149.2. At the second epoch, the blue wing of the latter is blended with an unidentified rare earth line. That spectrum is affected by a cosmic ray hit between the lines Cr ii λ 6147.1 and Fe ii λ 6147.7.
