Normalized sizes (a/rbar) and the minor-to-major axis ratios (b/a) of barlenses and X-shaped features of the galaxies are plotted as a function of parent galaxy inclination (left panels). The same parameters for the synthetic images are also shown (right panels). The simulations with a small (B/D = 0.01) and a large bulge (B/D = 0.08) are shown with different symbols. The arrows in the two panels use the model with B/D = 0.08, indicating the normalized barlens size in face-on view (green arrow in the left), and the size of the X-shape when the same model is observed edge-on (red arrow in the right). The measured uncertainties are typically smaller than 0.5 arcsec.
