Time evolution of the mass of the HFC from the onset of core helium burning until the occurrence of the first thermal pulse for the 1.0 M, Z = 0.001 sequences with Y = 0.4 and Y = 0.247. The color scale on the right shows the core helium abundance (mass fraction). The HFC mass increases substantially during core helium burning for the helium-enhanced sequence.
