The upper panel shows orbits of barium (open squares) and S stars (red dots), as well as a conservative envelope that encompasses all the points (green line). The middle panel shows red giants in binary systems from M07, separated according to the envelope defined above (black and cyan symbols). The lower panel shows only those systems from M07 with mass functions in the range −2.8 < log Y < −2.05, that is, those that are more likely to be post-mass-transfer systems (however, about half of these systems are not, according to the bottom panel of Fig. 2).
