Sequence of LASCO-C2 base-difference images (frame at 16:04 UT subtracted) of the CME event that occurred on August 2, 2000. The erupting prominence associated with the CME can be recognized in the last two frames on the right. The UVCS slit, centered at 2.3 R at a latitude of 40°N, is superimposed onto the images as a red line for reference.
