Table 3

Beam-averaged column densities and abundances of SO, SO2, and CO in the jet knots B2, B3, and R2.

Jet HVjet N SO N CO X SO HVjet N SO2 N CO X SO2
knot (km s-1) (1014 cm-2) (1017 cm-2) (10-7) (km s-1) (1015 cm-2) (1016 cm-2) (10-7)

B2 [−8,−15 ] 3.0−7.1 ≥ 0.4−2.1 * ≤ 7.5−3.3 * [−8,−10 ] 0.1−1.3 ≥ 1.8−10.1 * ≤ 4.7−12.4 *
B3 [−8,−15 ] 2.3−5.6 0.2−1.2 10.5−4.6 [−8,−10 ] 0.1−1.1 1.6−9.0 4.7−12.4
R2 [ + 10, + 15 ] 0.4−0.8 0.2−1.1 1.7−0.8 [ + 8, + 10 ] 0.1−1.3

Notes. The column densities are estimated from the SO 98−87, SO282,6−71,7, and CO 3−2 line intensities integrated over the indicated high-velocity ranges assuming optically thin thermalised emission at Tex = 50−500 K. The abundances of SO and SO2 are derived as Xspecie = Nspecie/NCO × NCO/NH2 and assuming XCO = NCO/NH2 = 10-4.

(*)

As CO 3–2 is optically thick in knot B2, the estimated CO column density, NCO, is a lower limit, and the SO and SO2 abundances, XSO and XSO2, are upper limits.
