These overdensities are used for comparison and discussion of the stellar density profile data-to-model residuals throughout Sect. 4.3. The labels in the figure correspond to the Anticentre Structure (ACS), the Eastern Band Structure (EBS), the NGC 5466 stream, the Grillmair & Dionatos stream (G&D), the Orphan stream, the Triangulum-Andromeda overdensity (Tri-And) and the Pisces overdensity. The background image is the SDSS-DR8 map from Koposov et al. (2012), which shows the footprint of the Sagittarius stream. The Monoceros ring also appears partially in this background image, as a dark region overlapping the western part of the Galactic disk in the anticentre region, eastwards of the ACS.
