Rosette Herschel column density map (Schneider et al. 2012a). The circles indicate the different regions used for the PDFs. The white crosses indicate the position of the main ionizing sources, i.e. the most massive OB-stars from the NGC 2244 cluster. The extension of the Hα emission corresponds to region 1 + 2 but there is also a significant FUV radiation up to region 1 + 2 + 3 (see Schneider et al., in prep.). The blue circles indicate the position of the condensations identified in the PDFs of region 1 and of region 1 + 2.
