Notes.
With the NOT we imaged M 101 only within the FOV including the positions of SN 1909A and of the H ii region that we spectroscopically observed (see the top panel of Fig. 4). The continuum-subtraced Hα image of the entire galaxy was obtained from http://www.aoc.nrao.edu.
