Snapshots of the logarithmic temperature distribution during one oscillation of the reverse shock for the model NoPert. The dark blue color corresponds to the accretion stream, the light blue to the chromosphere and the red to the hot post-shock region which gradually cools down. The panels are separated by 108   s, showing the formation and recollapse of the post-shock region due to the cooling instabilities induced by the optically thin radiation cooling.
