To obtain the actual charge-exchange rate, one has to multiply a quantity read off from the figure for a given speed by the local density of the ionized reaction component (solar wind proton, alpha particle). The lower horizontal axis is scaled in km  s^-1, the upper axis in energy per nucleon in keV.
