Structure of the inner 100 pc of NGC 4418 inferred from our analysis of CO and HI dynamics and from molecular excitation. The outer envelope, traced by CO and HI, has a temperature of 80 K (from CO brightness temperature) and shows clear in-flow signatures. A warmer component, at 160 K is traced by HC3N v7 = 1 and is consistent with the 20–30 pc-wide warm component derived by González-Alfonso et al. (2012). A compact, 300 K component of 5 pc in diameter is traced by HC3N v6 = 1 and HNC v2 = 1. See also Table 5.
