Emergent Q/I (first panel) and U/I (second panel) profiles from a system disk and a star, where polarization is assumed to be only induced by a line scattering in the disk. Instead of a polar angle θ here, we use inclination i, so that the inclination is zero if the observer is in the plane of the disk. Intensity profiles (third panel) combine disk line scattering and star continuum radiation (note that legend is the same as in the top two panels). In the fourth panel, we show the variation of line-center scattering polarization with the inclination.
