Forces acting along a field line connecting the star and the disk that is mass-loaded by the MEs in case C03. The left panel refers to the forces acting from the disk midplane up to the cusp of the magnetic surface, while the right panel shows the forces from the stellar surface up to the cusp. We selected a magnetic surface anchored at 4.3 R on the disk midplane. The plots have been obtained by time averaging the forces over 54 stellar rotation periods. We plot the thermal pressure gradient (solid line), the centrifugal term (dot-dashed line), the Lorentz force (dashed line), and the gravitational pull (dotted line). Vertical lines mark the position of the disk surface (DS) and the slow-magnetosonic point (SM).
