Absorption lines from the zabs = 2.1871 system overlapped to demonstrate different profile shapes. The Fe ii λ2600 Å line is shifted by 0.35 km s-1, and the Mg ii λ2796 Å line by 1.08 km s-1 with respect to their original positions in the spectrum (see Sect. 4.4 for details). The zero radial velocity is fixed at z = 2.1871.
