Spectroscopic methods were used to investigate atmospheric parameters of FG Virginis to pinpoint the position of this δ Scuti variable in the HR diagram and to derive abundances. It was claimed in the literature that this δ Scuti star is slightly metal overabundant compared to the sun, but this could not be confirmed by us. The chemical composition of FG Vir turned out to be solar. Temperature and values are in good agreement with the models which fit the observed pulsation frequencies best.
