Figure 9:

DSS images and CO spectra obtained towards the 42 BRCs towards which emission is detected. The DSS images presented in the left panels are overlaid with contours of the MSX 8 $\mu$ m emission which traces the PDR. The position of the IRAS point source associated with each cloud is indicated by a cross. Embedded MSX 21 $\mu$ m point source associated with each cloud are indicated by a triangle. In the right panels we present histogram plots of the three CO transitions and the fits to the data; these are coloured in black and red respectively.
