Cutouts of some DESI dwarf candidates that have likely been misidentified as dwarf galaxies, taken from the VIS-NISP colour image created using the IE band in blue, the YE band in green, and the HE band in red. The colours are projected onto the high-resolution IE band to best reflect their appearance as detected. From left to right: a DESI dwarf galaxy (red cross) that was excluded during our dwarf selection as it shows a red centre and spiral structures – the nearby companion, with a strikingly similar appearance, is not in the DESI Extragalactic Dwarf Catalogue –, a DESI dwarf galaxy with coordinates (red cross) located in the outer part of this bright galaxy that was excluded during our dwarf selection as it is a bright (massive) galaxy. The sizes of the cutouts are proportional to twice the area determined from the annotation of classifiers; north is up and east is to the left.
