Feature maps and heat maps across ResNet50 bottlenecks show that increasing depth (e.g., Bottleneck4 to Bottleneck6) does not improve focus on faint cross-shaped sources. Instead, deeper layers exhibit diffuse attention and amplified noise, reducing feature distinctness.
