Synthetic fringe pattern for a perfectly collimated source that enters two resonating cavities, which mimics the two fringe components (blue and orange). Each of them follows the Airy formula in Eq. (1) with its own period, which are close to each other, and both have the same finesse. Their combination produces beating (red).
