Examples of images of galaxies from the CS4G sample. Galaxies are sorted according to their stellar mass (x-axis) and morphological type (y-axis) measured as explained in Sect. 6. The galaxy name and the survey or instrument of the image are shown in the upper part of each image. The stellar mass and the revised morphological type (in brackets) are shown in the bottom part of each image. Each image is centred on the galaxy and the field of view is set to be 1.4 times the isophotal radius at 25.5 mag arcsec−2 (R25.5). The radius, R25.5, is measured in the 3.6 μm band as described in Sect. 6.
