Cyg X-1 field as observed by the MeerKAT telescope in the S band after applying a minimum uv cut of 500 wavelengths. A black circle marks the location of Cyg X-1 and the bow shock. The locations of W1 and W2 as detected in the L-band image are marked in green. The W2 has become fainter, indicating that this emission was being picked up by the short baselines that have been flagged out here but are present in the L-band image.
