Simplified diagram of the forward model of two X-ray telescopes (here, XMM-Newton/EPIC and XRISM/Resolve). The problem of fusion consists in inverting this model and using the observed data X and Y to retrieve the deconvoluted cube Z. The mathematical details behind the operators and kernels are detailed in Section 3. Not shown is the exposure time of each data set.
