Inner working angle (IWA) as a function of the PA-averaged projected baseline length αB/|α|=|B|/2$\alpha \cdot B/\left| {\alpha \left| = \right|B} \right|/\sqrt 2 $. For very long baseline lengths, the IWA is limited by telescope diffraction, approaching one λ/D. However, for most of the VLTI baselines, the IWA is typically limited to several λ/D. The addition of a new telescope would create four new baselines with an IWA only limited by the 8-metre telescope diameter.

Current usage metrics show cumulative count of Article Views (full-text article views including HTML views, PDF and ePub downloads, according to the available data) and Abstracts Views on Vision4Press platform.

Data correspond to usage on the plateform after 2015. The current usage metrics is available 48-96 hours after online publication and is updated daily on week days.
