Longitudinally averaged profiles of the zonal wind at five different latitudes spanning the region from the equator to the northern pole (90°), for three HD209458b-like models at different rotation rates: 0.125Ω₀ (left), Ω₀ (middle), and 15Ω₀ (right). These three rotation rates have been chosen to emphasise the change in zonal flow dynamics with rotation regime. Positive wind speeds indicate eastwards flows and for each wind profile we average over a 20° latitudinal band centred at the labelled latitude.
