Evolution of the emerging flux on the east side of the leading positive sunspot over a duration of 12 h. This sunspot acts as a source of flux emergence, and emerged polarity patches move to form the regions marked by the two ovals in panel (c). The negative polarity on the west side of the sunspot is an artifact due to the projection effect. The threshold of the magnetic field is ±500 G.
