Table 1.
Summary of the propagation regimes.
Wave frequency | Particle velocity | Plasma current |
---|---|---|
ω0 < ωL/a0 | Nonrelativistic | Linear |
ωL/a0 < ω0 < a0ωL | Relativistic | Nonlinear |
ω0 > a0ωL | Relativistic | Linear |
Notes. The wave strength parameter is a0 > 1. The plasma is strongly magnetized (ωL > ωP) and composed of electron-positron pairs. In the lab frame, the velocity of the particles that oscillate in the field of the wave is nonrelativistic for ω0 < ωL/a0 and becomes relativistic for ω0 > ωL/a0. The plasma current, nuy, is a linear function of the wave electric field for ω0 < ωL/a0 and ω0 > a0ωL, whereas it is nonlinear for ωL/a0 < ω0 < a0ωL. The wave could be damped when the current is nonlinear.
Current usage metrics show cumulative count of Article Views (full-text article views including HTML views, PDF and ePub downloads, according to the available data) and Abstracts Views on Vision4Press platform.
Data correspond to usage on the plateform after 2015. The current usage metrics is available 48-96 hours after online publication and is updated daily on week days.
