Total force applied by the pressure gradient, gravity, and Lorentz force on the plasma with the radial gradient (blue curve) and then without it (orange curve). We fix R at the radial boundary and vary the colatitude θ. The vertical line separates the super-Alfvénic and sub-Alfvénic regions. The total Lorentz force density is computed using J × B adapted to a spherical grid.
