Table 5
Lifetimes of indene in astrophysical environments.
Environment | VUV dose rate(a) eV molecule-1 yr-1 | CR dose rate(a) eV molecule-1 yr-1 | VUV half-life | CR half-life |
---|---|---|---|---|
Cold dense cloud (T < 30 K) | 4 × 10-7 | 3 × 10-7 | 0.7–1 × 108 | 1 × 107 |
Cold diffuse ISM (T = 30–100 K) | 0.1 | 3 × 10-6 | 2.7–4.1 × 102 | 1 × 106 |
Notes. For cold dense clouds the VUV half-life was calculated with half-life doses corresponding to 1% indene in ASW at 10 K. The CR half-life was calculated with the half-life dose of 3 eV molecule-1 for 1% indene in ASW at 10 K.(a) Moore et al. (2001). In this reference, UV doses are estimated for typical ice mantles with a thickness of 20 nm.
