X-shooter spectra showing the profiles of lower-order HI lines belonging to intense (top panel) and weak (bottom panel) HBe stars. The blueshifted absorption feature is seen in the Balmer lines. However, the contribution of blueshifted absorption decreases as we move to Paschen and Brackett lines, denoting the wavelength-dependent opacity of the absorbing medium.
