Table B.1

Characteristics of silicate components and their provenances, adopted from van Boekel et al. (2005). Here an x in the chemical formulae denotes the magnesium content of the material and ranges between 0 ≲ x ≲ 1. The templates used in our study are similar to those in van Boekel et al. (2005), who assumed x = 0.5 for amorphous olivine and pyroxene, and x = 1 for crystalline olivine and pyroxene (i.e., forsterite and enstatite, respectively).

Dust Component Chemical Formula Shape Reference
Amorphous olivine Mg2xFe22xSiO4 Homogenous Spheres Dorschner et al. (1995)
Amorphous pyroxene MgxFe1xSiO3 Homogenous Spheres Dorschner et al. (1995)
Crystalline forsterite Mg2 SiO4 Irregular (DHS) Servoin & Piriou (1973)
Crystalline enstatite MgSiO3 Irregular (DHS) Jäger et al. (1998)
Amorphous silica SiO2 Irregular (DHS) Spitzer & Kleinman (1961)
