Table 2

Explored and favorite parameters of the shell in the CSM for the models of Cas A.

Parameter Units Range explored Favorite value
nsh (cm-3) [5; 20] 20(a)
rsh (pc) [1; 2] 1.5
σ (pc) [0.02; 0.05] 0.02
θ [35°; −57°] 30°
ϕ [0°; 50°] 50°
H (pc) [0.35; 3.5] 0.7

Msh (M) [0.43; 3.71] 2.3(b)
MSE (M) [0.16; 0.49] 0.7
Mnw (M) [0.22; 3.22] 1.6
nSE (cm−3) [1.6; 5.8] 6.3
nNW (cm−3) [6.7; 89] 77

Notes. The favorite parameters correspond to those of model W15-IIb-sh-HD-1eta-az in Table 1. The reference density of the shell, nsh, the shell radius and thickness, rsh and σ, the angle θ (measured in the plane of the sky, about the y-axis, counterclockwise from the west), the angle ϕ (measured about the z-axis counterclockwise from the plane of the sky) and the scale length of the shell density, H, are used in Eq. (1) to describe the CSM. The total mass of the shell, Msh, the masses of the SE and NW hemispheres of the shell, MSE and MNW, and the peak densities of the shell in the SE and NW directions, nSE and nNW, are derived from the simulations. (a)The density nsh = 10 cm−3 if ϕ = 0. (b)The mass of the shell is Msh = 1.3 M if ϕ = 0.
