Evolution of the core rotation rate as a function of the surface gravity. The data points correspond to the red giants in the hydrogen-shell burning phase analysed by Gehan et al. (2018) and are colour-coded by their mass as for the models. Each model has a different initial mass, as indicated in the figure. An additional viscosity of νadd = 8 × 103 cm2 s−1 was used in all models.
