Radiative transfer in double-grey approximation, as described in Appendix E. The equations for the shortwave and longwave radiative fluxes are solved separately. In each band, the coupled upward and downward fluxes are calculated by making use of the Thomas algorithm (see Appendix H). The superscript ′ designates the vertical gradient of the black body emission flux
