Generation and break down of a channel mode during the unstratified net-flux run with αB = 0.5. The figure depicts a surface rendering of the radial velocity within the shearing box. The two-channel flow is clearly seen in the left picture which over an orbit is quickly broken down into turbulence, as seen in the right figure. The generation of the channel mode coincides with a peak in the magnetic energy and as the channel flow is destroyed the magnetic energy will decrease. The formation and destruction of these channel flows occur continuously throughout the simulation.
