Drift of a wide emission region (grey) around the dipole axis. Far from the profile centre (point A), the region is visible within a limited interval of drift cycle, and strong modulations appear. The extra beam (dashed) on the opposite side of the dipole axis is required to explain the jump by half of the modulation cycle.
