TESS image of the field of VHS J1256-1257AB in Sector 10 (created with tpfplotterAller et al. 2020). The pixels outlined in red indicate the aperture used to extract the light curve shown in the top panel of Fig. 1. The size of the red circles indicates the TESS magnitudes of all nearby stars. Each TESS pixel covers an area of ≈21″ × 21″. The aperture used includes the signal of VHS J1256-1257AB as well as those of VHS J1256-1257 b and a star with Gaia ID 3526198180427873664. VHS J1256-1257AB is at least 4 mag brighter than any other source in the aperture.
